Alex Fuller MA VetMB MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon - Owner

Since graduating from Cambridge in 2006, Alex has focused solely on equine veterinary medicine. He was raised on a stud farm in Lancashire, so it's in his blood. As a first-opinion vet, he enjoys dealing with various cases and has a particular interest in orthopaedics, poor performance issues, and challenging dental cases. Alex is a member of The International Society of Equine Loco-motor Pathology (ISELP) and is currently studying with them to further understand and manage lameness conditions in equine athletes. In his free time, he likes to socialise with friends and family, cook, and play the occasional game of poker with the guys.

Kirsty Barron BSC(Hons) BVM& S MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

After completing a BSc in Animal Science at Writtle College in 2006, Kirsty went on to study veterinary medicine and graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2010. Kirsty began life as a vet in a mixed practice in the Scottish Borders; following this, she completed a rotating equine internship at the Philip Leverhulme Equine Hospital in 2012-2013 and then stayed on in the Leahurst Equine Practice (attached to the hospital) for just over a year. From 2014 until 2017, Kirsty worked in a variety of practices in Scotland, New Zealand, Wales and England, carrying out mainly equine ambulatory service for on-site assessments and some small animal work before joining Fuller Equine Ltd in 2017. Kirsty obtained her advanced veterinary practitioner certificate in Equine Practice in 2018.

Kirsty loves being a vet and enjoys the variety of challenges that the job offers. Her main interests are orthopaedics, anaesthesia, and carrying out pre-purchase examinations; however, she enjoys all aspects of equine practice. Kirsty is also a coach for other veterinary surgeons and has a passion for promoting and improving the mental health and well-being of veterinary surgeons and the whole practice team. Interests outside of work include travelling, skiing, mountain biking, reading, cooking and socialising with friends.

Magda completed a BSc in Neuroscience whilst studying Veterinary Medicine at the University of Krakow in Poland. During veterinary studies, Magda completed multiple externships in large clinics in Poland, Germany, Czech Republic and Italy, gaining valuable experience in equine medicine, lameness and emergency care.

Magda joined Fuller Equine Ltd in August 2020, having previously worked at Towcester Vets, where she completed a 13-month rotating internship and then later moved on to an ambulatory position, continuing to gain valuable experience in orthopaedics and internal medicine. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary work but, in particular, has developed an interest in lameness, poor performance, diagnostic imaging and sports medicine. She regularly participates in courses that keep her up to date with current trends in injury diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation.

Before moving to the UK, Magda competed in national showjumping competitions in Poland, reaching Grand Prix level on her horse Louise. She won second place in the National Showjumping Championships of South Poland class 145cm in 2011. In her spare time, she enjoys hiking and going to concerts.

Claire Fuller

Practice Manager -Owner

She began her career as a clerk at the London Metal Exchange, first working for Brandeis and later moving to Refco to take on a position as a Client Liaison. In her mid-twenties, she left to travel to Southeast Asia and Australia.

After being exposed to life outside of commodities, she returned to the UK and started a jewellery business importing silver from Thailand. She later set up a gift printing business, which was successfully franchised. Besides enjoying the independence of being her own boss, she cherished the freedom to indulge in her love of horses once more and decided not to return to the city.

In 2014, Claire and Alex co-founded Fuller Equine Ltd, which has grown into a three-vet practice with the support of their amazing team and lovely clients. In addition to being a mum to two amazing children, she enjoys socialising with friends, travelling, writing and attending music events.

An insurance guru posing with her horse

Sophie Chatwin

Insurance Guru - Veterinary Assistant

Her love of horses began at 8 years old when she first learned to ride, but she didn't get into competing seriously until her late 20s. Alongside a former career in the police, she successfully completed her home-produced Scoobie and Ludo up to Inter 1 level. Sophie also has 2 younger horses: Dita, who is now progressing nicely under saddle and successfully competing, and Trixi, who, following surgery in 2021, has stepped up to medium level and qualified for the Winter Regional Finals next year.

She assists the vets out on the road and is our in-house insurance guru. With her wealth of knowledge, she is a tremendous asset to all of us here at the practice and continues to offer her own Sophie Chatwin Equine Services.
